All around Mount Rainier, when skies are clear & the sun is shining, people celebrate. We just feel better. There’s a phrase for when you can see the iconic peak: the mountain is out.
When we make the commitment to work on ourselves, it can feel like the clouds are parting and the sun is shining, offering hope and an opportunity for a new day in which we can be our authentic selves and live in accordance with our values.
Jenn Huntting
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA)
Hi and welcome! I’m Jenn and I have been working in the mental health field for several decades. Mental health is my passion! I use an integrative approach to therapy, depending on the needs of each client, allowing things to unfold in the safety of the therapeutic relationship. I bring my authentic self to sessions and I want you to feel comfortable to do so as well. If you are struggling but you aren’t sure why, or if you’ve tried therapy before but found it didn’t get you the results you were hoping for, you may find it helpful to try again. I believe the therapeutic relationship is essential to great outcomes, so I’d love to connect to see if we are a good fit! If you are struggling with specific issues related to anxiety, OCD, interpersonal connections/relationships, self-esteem, or a harsh inner-critic, please reach out. Read on for more information!

An Integrated Approach to Therapy
Mindfulness
You may have heard this word around or even tried mindfulness meditation only to have it spike your anxiety believing you “aren’t doing it right.” Mindfulness doesn’t necessarily mean meditating, but practicing living in the moment instead of our thoughts being consumed by the past or the future.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy is an insight-oriented approach. The goal of psychodynamic work is to bring about self-awareness by understanding the influence of the past and unconscious processes on current behavior. Gaining insight into the reasons behind our emotions and behaviors can help us make lasting changes. Psychodynamic work is a “deep dive” into ourselves.
Attachment
Attachment is another word that’s going around these days, and you may know a bit about your style. Behavioral science research tells us that our earliest relationships can affect our relationships throughout life and healing attachment injuries can bring us more connected and fulfilling relationships.
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
EFT helps us uncover the real and vulnerable emotions behind the way we communicate in relationships. We get to see that our default mode of trying to meet our needs sometimes gets us more of what we don’t want! EFT can help us uncover our deepest feelings and longing for connection and share in an open, vulnerable way, creating deeper intimacy, which one of the most fundamental human desires.
CBT for Anxiety
Cognitive (thinking) behavioral (actions) therapy deals with what we think and do- so- everything! When we become aware of the connection between the two we find we have control over things we thought we didn’t. CBT can help with anxiety disorders such as GAD, phobias, panic, & social anxiety.
OCD Treatments
I am trained in several evidence-based treatments for OCD: I-CBT: Inference-Based CBT, ERP: Exposure Response Prevention therapy, and ACT: Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. Often, someone may believe they have an anxiety disorder as they don’t recognize their methods for lowering their anxiety are compulsions (especially mental compulsions!). Please click on my OCD page for more information about OCD and treatment options.
Clients & Issues I Work With
Women’s Issues
Are you new to therapy or ready to tackle an ongoing challenge with a different perspective? Struggling to understand how you’ve ended up where you are and looking to make changes? Sometimes there’s unfinished business from our family of origin or coping strategies that served us for a time but are now holding us back. Women can bring a unique set of issues to therapy, including identity issues, the weight and privilege of Mothering, and hormonal changes such as menopause. Therapy can help us make things make sense in context and move forward with relationships and ourselves in a healthier and more insightful way.
Life Transitions
Are you experiencing a major life transition? Graduating from college, getting married, buying a house, moving to a new city, starting a new career, having a child, getting a divorce: these are all major life transitions and come with stress, even if they are wanted changes. Therapy can help ease these transitions and replace maladaptive coping mechanisms that cause us more harm than help.
Relationship Troubles
Do you find yourself in unfulfilling relationships, never quite getting your needs met and feeling disconnected. Perhaps you find yourself repeating the same relationship patterns over and over? Do you try to make sure not to disappoint anyone at the sacrifice of your own needs? Do you lack a way to set and keep boundaries? Is your self-esteem the reason you’re stuck in “situationships”? Exploring these issues in individual therapy can help break old cycles and find meaningful connections with partners and friends.
Anxiety
Is your inner voice critical, mean, and unrelenting? Do you find yourself avoiding difficult situations/conversations? Do you find yourself caught in a loop of intrusive thought patterns like: “what if I’m secretly a terrible person and people might find out?” followed by the deep need to do something about it? Is your body reacting to your worries as if there is danger in the room with you? Living with anxiety is living in a world of “what ifs?” and we can be so focused on worrying about the future that we miss out on the present. You are not alone, relief is possible! Reach out for help with generalized anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, and social anxiety.
Paying for Therapy
-
I am currently in-network with Premera, Lifewise, and BCBS plans processed through Premera. I am considered an out-of-network provider for all other insurance companies.
I am able to provide “Superbills” for all services. These are receipts which you can submit to your insurance as claims for potential reimbursement.
Please contact your insurance by calling the number on the back of your card. Here are some helpful questions to ask them:
Do I have “out of network benefits”?
If yes: “What is my deductible?”
What part of that deductible have I met so far (if at all)?
What is my copay on out of network “behavioral health” visits?
How do I submit Superbills for reimbursement?
Do you reimburse for Associate mental health counselors with “LMHCA credentials?
-
You will be asked to place a debit or credit card on file for your appointments. You can pay for your therapy with Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
You technically are not supposed to used these cards for missed appointments, however.
-
I accept credit, debit, and HSA/FSA cards.
Payment is due at the time of service unless special arrangements have been made. Your card will automatically be charged the evening of your appointment- never before.
-
You must cancel your appointment 24 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment.
You will be charged the full amount of the session for missed appointments or failing to cancel 24 hours prior to your appointment.
“No shows” will be charged the full session fee.
Missed session fees cannot be reimbursed by insurance.

Overview:
The No Surprises act which is a part of the consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, is designed to protect clients from receiving unexpected medical bills.
The "Good Faith Estimate” is to give an idea of what you'll be charged with, prior to begin services.
As I do not bill to insurance, this eliminates any surprise fees as you are aware of the rate you are paying for therapy as well as the rate of late cancellations or no shows.
Unfortunately, I do not have the ability to tell you exactly how long you will be seeing me for therapy, but you may create an estimate of ($ rate of session x 1x/week) x 50 weeks in the year (minus two weeks holiday) = the approximate total you will end up spending on therapy per year.
If I decide to raise my rates nominally, I will give you ample warning and will discuss if this impacts your ability to attend therapy.
MY RATES
$150 per 53-min. session
$225 per 90-min. intake (first session)
Some reduced rate spots may be available
